Car guards in South Africa are increasingly adopting digital payment solutions like Street Wallet, enabling customers to tip car guards using various methods, including QR codes, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, SnapScan and Zapper. Street Wallet does not require a bank account and allows users to withdraw funds via digital vouchers. Despite the growth of digital payments, the South African Reserve Bank highlights barriers such as limited Internet access and high mobile data costs, which hinder the full adoption of a cashless society, particularly in rural and low-income areas.
