FNB and Visa have implemented tap-and-go payment technology at select toll gates along the N3, N4 and Chapman’s Peak routes. The system supports contactless payments via tap-enabled debit or credit cards, payment apps like Apple Pay and Google Pay and wearable devices such as Garmin and Fitbit. With over 50% of FNB customer card payments now contactless, the bank plans to expand the technology to additional toll road concessionaires in 2025.
