Standard Bank has enhanced its UCount Rewards programme, offering more ways for members to earn tiering points as of July 2024. According to the bank, members who use streaming services or hold a Liberty Lifestyle Protector policy can now accumulate additional tiering points, as well as for completing activities in the UCount Rewards section of the Standard Bank app. These changes reportedly align with consumer spending trends and make it easier for more customers to benefit from its Double Fuel Rewards, offering up to R10 back per litre of fuel purchased at Caltex/Astron Energy using a Standard Bank credit card. Standard Bank added that fuel redemptions account for 31% of all rewards, reflecting a shift towards essential spending due to economic pressures. Despite these changes, customers without a Standard Bank credit card can still earn standard fuel rewards using debit or cheque cards.
