Mama Money has partnered with Access Bank and card issuer Paymentology to launch a bank card service using WhatsApp banking. The new Mama Money Card allows users to transfer payments internationally, buy electricity and airtime, download bank statements, check balances and manage accounts through WhatsApp. The card costs R100 with a R25 monthly fee and can be obtained through the Mama Money App using a passport or asylum document. This feature is particularly beneficial for customers from other countries, simplifying access for many who struggle with traditional banking requirements. The card also provides security features that enable users to quickly freeze their card via WhatsApp in the event of loss or theft. Mama Money co-founder Mathieu Coquillon highlighted the card’s role in empowering communities by providing secure employer payments and encourages savings.
