Icebolethu Group shared some new funeral trends that have become the new norm in the culture. These include casket carriage, white doves, gold shovels, executive fleets of cars, and cremations. Casket carriage is when the casket is visible and pulled by a fleet, mostly done for prominent people. White doves symbolize letting go of the deceased spirit as they fly away. Gold shovels are used by the family to pour during the service and lowering of the casket. Executive fleets of cars, led by bikes, are becoming more popular, and some families have special requests. Cremations are on the rise, especially since Durban cemeteries are filling up fast. Icebolethu will be launching new crematoriums and considering other forms of burial as requested by families.
