South African trading platform EasyEquities is introducing a fee on its mandatory Thrive loyalty programme to encourage engagement among users. Starting from December, clients will be charged R25 per month for the programme, which had been free since its launch four years ago. The fee is waived for clients who reach Level 3 of the loyalty programme. EasyEquities, which has over 2 million registered users but only about 850 000 are regularly active, aims to increase engagement with portfolios. Clients aged 21 and younger, or those aged 65 and older, are exempt from the fee.
