Mastercard has selected South Africa as the first market globally to implement immediate card payments, offering merchants faster payouts to improve cash flow management. This initiative introduces real-time clearing and same-day payouts through enhanced payment standards and more frequent settlement cycles. Aligned with the South African Reserve Bank’s Vision 2025 strategy, the initiative aims to modernise payment systems and promote financial inclusion, with Mastercard teaming up with ACI Worldwide to enable seamless adoption.
