Liberty has announced that its digital tax-free investment app Stash has achieved R1.5 billion in contributions since its 2017 launch. Data shows that user balances totalled over R282 million from January to June 2024, with most users aged 35 and under, indicating a growing interest in savings and investment among the younger generation despite socio-economic barriers. Liberty also introduced Stash for Kids as an extension of the app in November 2021, allowing parents to open tax-free investment accounts for their children, with over 15 000 accounts opened to date. Liberty lead specialist for corporate citizenship Nomaxabiso Matjila added that Liberty’s Mind My Money programme has been instrumental to the success of the Stash app which provides users with essential financial literacy.
