In mid-February 2023, Discovery Health partnered with Clicks and Auto & General Insurance to bring its private health insurance product Flexicare, to the mass market. The product has been available to corporate employees and the retail sector since 2018. It costs R435 a month for unlimited GP consultations, limited medicine, dentistry, eye care, x-rays, flu vaccines, maternity, health checks, blood tests and certain procedures in GP rooms. For an additional R174 a month, there is optional add-on trauma cover at a private hospital. Discovery is at pains to point out that this is an insurance product, not a medical scheme.
