122

President Ramaphosa met with Transnet’s board and executive management on 28 March, to discuss its challenges. These include an all-time low in 30 years, during 2022. The president indicated that “fundamental structural reforms” were required to improve efficiency and competitiveness at Transnet. One of the most notable reforms would allow third-party access to the freight rail network by private rail operators. The company has undergone numerous turnaround strategies over the years.
