Ogihara South Africa launches R1.2 Billion automotive plant in Durban

Ogihara South Africa, a joint venture between Toyota Tsusho Africa and Ogihara Thailand, will soon commence the construction of a new body part manufacturing plant at the Dube Tradeport in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This R1.2 billion investment will supply components to vehicles produced by Toyota South Africa, furthering the localisation of the automotive industry in line with the South African Automotive Masterplan. The venture is expected to bring significant foreign direct investment, create numerous job opportunities, and enhance local production capabilities. Ogihara South Africa marks the company’s first expansion into Africa, strengthening Toyota’s commitment to local value addition and high-quality manufacturing.
