Nedbank has reportedly inducted over 2 800 unemployed young people into its 2023 YES programme, bringing the total number of work opportunities created since 2019 to nearly 10 000. Nedbank’s YES initiative focuses on developing skills in high-growth sectors like renewable energy, wildlife conservation, education and agro-processing, addressing both national priorities and the bank’s sustainability goals. Nedbank is the largest YES participant in the financial services sector, having created over 7 000 work opportunities prior to this intake. More than two-thirds of the roles have been taken up by women, with many placements in provinces with high unemployment rates, including Mpumalanga (36.1%) and the Eastern Cape (42.8%).
