South Africa’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Ebrahim Patel, has launched the Energy One-Stop Shop (EOSS) and Energy Resilience Fund to accelerate the approval of renewable energy projects. The EOSS aims to streamline regulatory processes for private investment in electricity generation and fast-track energy applications. It is part of the government’s efforts to increase the supply of energy to the grid, mainly through renewable sources. The Energy Resilience Fund, worth R1.3 billion, will support businesses affected by load shedding by providing alternative energy solutions and supporting the localization of inputs. The initiatives aim to mitigate the ongoing energy crisis and foster a stable energy future in the country.
