The South African government and organized labour (union federations Cosatu, Fedusa, Nactu and Saftu) have agreed to collaborate more closely to address immediate economic challenges facing the country. The discussions focused on various issues, including the fiscal situation, economic structure, state-owned enterprises, public services, crime and corruption, local government, and economic and social relief. The participants recognized the urgent need to unlock economic growth and create jobs, particularly in the face of low growth and high unemployment. Key priorities include ending load shedding, improving the efficiency of the freight logistics system, and reducing violent crime while protecting economic infrastructure. The collaboration aims to drive economic progress and tackle poverty and inequality in the country.
