Dis-Chem has acquired a 50% stake in financial services business OneSpark for just under R156 million, aiming to expand beyond pharmaceuticals. This acquisition is part of Dis-Chem’s strategy to reposition its brand from a pharmacy retailer to a comprehensive healthcare provider. Starting in 2025, Dis-Chem will offer life insurance and funeral cover, adding to its integrated healthcare ecosystem that includes clinics, doctor consultations, medical insurance and medical aid gap cover. The addition of OneSpark strengthens Dis-Chem’s portfolio and enhances its one-stop shop for healthcare services.
