AVBOB’s annual Poetry Competition is open for entries from 01 August to 30 November 2023. South Africans can submit poems of love, hope, courage and consolation in all 11 official languages. Winning entries will be published in the AVBOB Poetry Library and earn a R300 publication fee. First-place winners in each language category will receive a grand prize worth R12 500, including cash, a book voucher and the AVBOB Poetry trophy. Participants can submit up to 10 poems via the online dashboard and shortlisted poems will be translated into English to foster understanding among South Africans. AVBOB aims to provide a unifying platform for sharing deep emotions through poetry during times of joy or sorrow, to provide relief, companionship and consolation.
