The Office of the Tax Ombud (OTO) in South Africa has launched an educational campaign to raise awareness about its free and impartial services and educate the public about taxpayer rights and obligations. The campaign aims to improve customer centricity and trust in the tax administration system and promote tax compliance. The OTO will use various communication platforms, including billboards, broadcast, print, digital, and social media, to reach taxpayers. The OTO’s primary goal is to assist taxpayers with complaints against the South African Revenue Services (SARS) and ensure fair treatment of taxpayers while encouraging tax compliance. The campaign will also address common complaints, such as delayed tax refunds and seek to improve the OTO’s visibility and profile.
