Sibanye-Stillwater has finalised a one-year wage deal with unions representing workers at its South African gold operations, including Beatrix, Driefontein, and Kloof mines. Effective until 30 June 2025, the agreement grants a 5.5% or R900 monthly increase (whichever is higher) to semi-skilled and unskilled workers, alongside a 5.5% raise for officials. CEO Neal Froneman attributed the decision to opt for a one-year term to volatile market conditions and restructuring efforts. The deal follows a challenging 2022 strike where workers forfeited three months’ wages. Froneman described the agreement as fair and sustainable, with plans for new negotiations set for July 2025.
