Sibanye-Stillwater has announced that the company has cut about 2 000 jobs from its gold operations, approximately half of the initially projected 4 000 positions. The reductions included 111 employees being retrenched and 1 130 contractors affected. Additionally, 629 employees opted for voluntary separation packages and early retirement, while 116 positions were eliminated through natural attrition and 448 employees accepted transfers. Sibanye-Stillwater CEO Neal Froneman highlighted that the restructuring has successfully addressed loss-making operations, securing benefits and value for stakeholders while limiting forced retrenchments to 8% of impacted employees since January 2023.
