JSE-listed insurer Momentum Metropolitan Holdings reported that a decline in deaths linked to Covid-19 was partly responsible for a 46% increase in normalised headline earnings. Group CEO, Hillie Meyer, said he believed that the pandemic has reached “its endemic phase”. Apparently, death claims have returned to levels last seen in 2019, as the Group sees positive mortality-experience variances in its main life insurance businesses.
