Krutham, a research-led consulting firm, has launched the Jobs Boost Outcomes Fund, a R300 million outcomes fund aimed at addressing youth unemployment in South Africa. The initiative, part of the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention, aims to train unemployed youth and secure sustainable, quality jobs for them. It introduces an outcomes-based pay-for-performance model, ensuring funds are allocated only upon reaching defined milestones. The National Skills Fund, part of the Department of Higher Education and Training, is the sole outcomes funder for the pilot phase. The initiative is expected to significantly impact the youth employment landscape by shifting the risk from the public sector to the private sector.
