Nedbank continues its commitment to the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative, a business-led collaboration with the South African government aimed at addressing youth unemployment. In 2023, Nedbank empowered an additional 2 800 young people as part of the YES cohort, bringing the total number to nearly 10 000. The initiative, supported by over 1 500 companies, has injected R6 billion into the economy through salaries earned by participating youth. YES, a part of Nedbank’s purpose-led transformation approach, aims to uncover talent, contribute to inclusivity and create work experience opportunities for the youth, with a 46% employment rate for those who completed the 2023 program.
