The Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) has launched its Youth Accelerator Programme to address the skills shortage in the insurance industry and prepare matriculants and graduates for employment. IISA CEO Thokozile Mahlangu emphasised the programme aims to help boost employability in the insurance sector by upskilling and training youth in both hard and soft skills. The 12-month programme will target 50 unemployed matriculants or graduates annually, offering an NQF Level 5 qualification and work exposure upon completion. Graduates will also gain IISA professional membership. The programme covers five critical competency requirements mandated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority and also incorporates digital literacy skills.
