The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has invested R 2.8 billion support Cape Town’s infrastructure development, focusing on low-income communities and inclusive economic growth. The 18-year loan will finance crucial upgrades in water, sanitation, electricity and transport. The investment forms part of Cape Town’s 10-year plan to modernise urban infrastructure, addressing challenges from rapid urbanisation and climate-related risks. The partnership builds on IFC’s broader support for South African cities, with previous investments totalling nearly R 7.2 billion.
