Four African banks, namely Equity Bank, First National Bank, Kenya Commercial Bank and Capitec, were recognized among the world’s strongest banks according to Brand Finance’s most valuable brand list, securing positions within the top seven, with scores of 92.46, 92.29, 91.47 and 89.08 respectively. Brand Finance’s research highlighted the competitive performance of local and regional banks against global counterparts, emphasizing the successful brand positioning in its customer base. Jeremy Sampson, chairman of Brand Finance Africa, praised the achievement, noting the rankings’ adherence to global best practices and ISO compliance and lauded the particularly strong performance of South African banks, FNB and Capitec, underscoring the prominence of local African brands from South Africa and Kenya.
